Starting a new career

Starting a new career

Venturing into the world of work can be a rollercoaster ride. Whether you are joining an establishment or starting up your own business there are always 2 key things you need to ask yourself when embarking on a new career journey. 1. Why am I doing this, and 2. What do I want to get out of this…

Once both these questions are answered you’re all set to go right?…Wrong! The process of starting a new career means getting ready mentally, spiritually, and even sometimes physically. This at times can be a challenge and often leads us to procrastinate along the way. However, it doesn’t have to be as hard as you think…

In an age where it is easier now more than ever to create businesses and establish brands, many of us struggle to take that initial first step. We become our own worst enemies by over criticising our ideas, making up reasons as to why “it won’t work”; and focusing on what will go wrong. The truth is much more energy is spent on the negative aspects of an idea rather than the positives. In most instances by the time we’ve come up with an idea we’ve already talked ourselves out of it…

Here are 3 top tips to consider when starting a new business, project, or even an idea you want to grow…

  1. Make a list of everything that can go RIGHT! If this is something that you are passionate about then it’s important to love and nurture it in order to grow – a bit like a baby. In essence you can look at is as your baby. Writing out a list will give you a visual idea of what you can achieve and how it will impact your life and those around you.
  2. Highlight your strengths and weaknesses. Typically this will demonstrate what you’re good at and what you’re not! We’re all guilty of taking on tasks we don’t enjoy or find difficult so this is a good way to rule that out. In the long run it enables you to focus on your strongest areas.
  3. Get started and stop making excuses! In our article stepping out of your comfort zone we spoke about doing things outside of norm in order to grow and progress in life. Pay attention to your ideas and find the motivation to get started. Turn your idea into your reality by taking action.
